Velassaru Maldives

Nice cool water!

We stayed at Velassaru in March for 5 nights. We were quite suprised at how close it was to Male - you can see it from the island. That said it did not detract from the resort. We were originally booked into a water bungalow, and like other reviewers have said, these are not up to standard and let the resort down in my opinion.

The management were very accommodating and although the resort was full, we managed to stay four of the 5 nights in a water villa which was amazing, although we did change rooms 3 times!

The food is a high standard in all the restaurants, except the buffet restaurant, which whilst still good, did not live up to expectations. The staff are all very friendly and service was excellent.

We felt the sunset bar should have stayed open later than 7.00 pm as it was in a lovely position next to the sea, and was very chilled and relaxing.

I can really recommend this island, we had a fantastic time, but I would recommend a two island holiday ( we spent a futher 4 nights on Coco Palm Bodu Hithi) as anything more than a week would start to become boring, on any of the islands, not specifically just this one.
